Xiaodong Yu 于晓东

Mr. Yu is currently Director and Chief Executive of China Taiping Insurance (UK) Co Ltd based in London. He also acts as Director of Taiping Re UK Limited.
 
Mr. Yu has more than 20 years’ experience of corporate planning, actuarial and risk management in large financial and insurance groups and various insurance companies. Prior to joining TPUK, he was Deputy General Manager of Taiping Reinsurance Co., Ltd. based in Hong Kong. He also acted as Life Actuarial Key Person and Appointed Actuary of TPRe. Prior to joining TPRe, he was General Manager of Risk Management Dept. and Chief Risk Officer of Insurance Group at Fosun Group, a leading investment group taking roots in China with a global foothold. He also served as non-executive director of Fidelidade – Companhia de Seguros, S.A. in Portugal and Peak Reinsurance in Hong Kong. Before joining Fosun, Mr. Yu has been a senior executive in China Taping Insurance Group’s Hong Kong headquarters for nearly 15 years. He also concurrently acted as the first Appointed Actuary of China Taiping Life Insurance (Hong Kong), Appointed Actuary of Taiping Re, Chief Actuary of Taiping Pension, and served as director or supervisor on the boards of various core insurance subsidiaries of China Taiping. Mr. Yu started actuarial career in the Actuarial Dept. of AIA China’s home office in Shanghai.
 
Mr. Yu received a master’s degree in applied mathematics and a bachelor’s degree in control science from Fudan University. He is one of the few Chinese actuaries qualified in both life and non-life. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), Fellow of the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong (FASHK), executive council member, founding member and Fellow of China Association of Actuaries (FCAA). He is also a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI) and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). Currently he is a member of Solvency Supervision Expert Advisory Committee of China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC) and a member of the Expert Committee of China Financial Risk 50 Forum (CFR 50).

Jimmy Yan 严京敏

Jimmy is one of the first few ACII qualified Chinese insurance professionals working in the UK. He has held various positions of underwriting manager and reinsurance manager in China Insurance UK, Chinese Project Leader in AJG (OAMPS UK), and now Assistant General Manager in China Taiping UK.

 

In his 20+ years’ insurance experience he has been working on a wide range of insurance fields including SME/Catering/Commercial Combined, Petrochemical Downstream Property and Liability, Reinsurance Treaty/facultative (inward and outward)

He had a BSc degree in Civil Engineering in china and studied MBA in the UK.

 

Jimmy has been elected as the first president for ACIPUK. He hopes he can help to build ACIPUK as a real home for Chinese insurance professionals, a valuable network for all insurance people in the UK, and an channel of communications for UK and China insurance industries.
 

Xianglong Gan 甘翔龙

Xianglong Gan is a Treaty Underwriter for casualty and specialty lines at RenaissanceRe Syndicate 1458. He joined RenaissanceRe Syndicate 1458 in 2011 as a Pricing Analyst.

 

Previously, Mr. Gan worked at Aon Benfield where he was responsible for analyzing, structuring and optimizing client reinsurance programs with a focus on marine, energy and composite specialty business. Prior to that, Mr. Gan worked as Deputy Project Manager in a leading Chinese engineering contracting company.

 

Mr. Gan is a qualified UK actuary. He holds a Master’s degree (Distinction) in Actuarial Management from Cass Business School, and a PG Diploma (Distinction) in Actuarial Science from University of Southampton. Mr. Gan graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Tsinghua University in China.

Michael Fan 范良毅

Michael Fan joined Political & Credit Risks team at The Channel Syndicate in May 2014. Previously, Michael also worked as a Credit Analyst at Goldman Sachs International in London. In the early part of his career, Michael was a Credit Insurance Underwriter in Sydney, Australia. Michael obtained his Master's degree at The University of Sydney

Laurel Tang 唐雅慧

Ms. Tang is a Senior Vice President of Guy Carpenter (UK) in charge of retrocession reinsurance and new reinsurance business development & management for Guy Carpenter Asia Pacific Region. Before Ms. Tang moved to London, she was Deputy GM of Guy Carpenter China.

 

Ms. Tang  held a number of positions in her previous jobs including the General Manger for Reinsurance at AnBang P&C, and Deputy Department Head for Key projects and International cooperation at China Pacific Insurance Group. She also spent two years on secondment at the International Department of China Insurance Regulatory Commission.

 

Ms. Tang has a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and an MBA from the UK. 

 

For ACIP establishment, Ms. Tang provided her constructive ideas and took the position of Event Organizer of ACIP in the past year. Together with other ACIP Committee members, several successful events have been organized, including pre and post Brexit seminars.

 

Ms. Tang would propose to focus some events over the coming year on ways in which ACIP members can network together to find innovative win-win solutions for our Chinese clients in the UK market. She would also be keen to canvass views from across the ACIP membership on priority topics and organize events that best respond to members’ interests.

Nelson Wang 王越

Nelson is a solicitor in DAC Beachcroft’s Global London group, focusing on resolution of commercial disputes and insurance claims defence, particularly in the areas of product liability, property and construction.

 

Nelson is from Shenzhen, China. He graduated from East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL) in Shanghai and worked at a leading Chinese law firm before qualifying as a solicitor in the UK. He also successfully passed the New York Bar Exam. Nelson speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and Sichuan Dialect all at a native level, as well as some Shanghainese and Japanese (JLPT 1).

 

As the Deputy Head of DACB’s China Desk, Nelson supports Asia-Pac clients in relation to their business interests in the UK (and vice versa), especially those with interests in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore. Nelson also facilitates the provision by the Firm (and its global network of offices) of legal advice to its Asian clients across a wide spectrum of practice areas.

 

Nelson is a Committee member and Secretary of the Association of Chinese Insurance Professionals in the UK. He is also the President of the ECUPL UK Alumni Association.

Wei Zhen 甄伟

Wei Zhen is a qualified Life actuary and works in the Group Actuarial Reporting team within Aviva since 2010. Before Aviva, he spent seven years working in Deloitte Consultancy and HengAn Standard Life in China, with extensive experience including pricing, IFRS/SII reporting and consultancy. Wei graduates from Nankai University and have obtained an MSc in Actuarial Science, he also holds a BSc in Insurance from Central University of Finance and Economics in Beijing.

Judy Lu 卢媛

Judy is an ACII qualified Chartered Insurer and works in QBE since 2016 as Multinational Network Manager and helps the company to set up the multinational capability with business expansion in more than 160 territories. Previously Judy worked for RSA Insurance Company in London with 7 years’ experience specialized in multinational insurance programmes and gained extensive knowledge in various insurance markets at a global level.

Judy graduated from Xi’an Jiaotong University in China with a Bachelor and Master degree in Management.  She was one of the early supporters when ACIP was founded.

Laura Zhou 周蕾

Laura works in the capacity of Senior Vice President at Marsh Ltd., based in London. Up to 2007 during the stint of working in Beijing, London and Singapore she was specialized in Oil & Gas insurance. Laura has since been leading Marsh initiatives to grow business arising out of China Outbound Investments into Europe, Middle East and Africa.

 

She holds a MSc degree from Cass Business School, London and has also acquired the FCII accreditation (Fellowship of Chartered Insurance Institute) and the status of Chartered Insurance Broker.

Hui He 何辉

Hui He is a computer science professional working in various industries for over 15 years. Currently Hui works in Hiscox Underwriting Ltd. as a senior developer / system architect in the Catastrophe Modelling team, responsible for creating Hiscox's in-house catastrophe reinsurance pricing platform.

Prior to Hiscox, Hui worked in Aon AGRC team as a consultant and worked on various consulting projects for Lloyd's and Lloyd's syndicates, including Axis, TMR etc.

Hui held a MSc degree of Artificial Intelligence from University of Edinburgh. Apart from work Hui is a keen amateur photographer, and enjoy travelling and reading. 

Selina Lu 吕星陆

Selina is a Lloyd’s Marine liability class underwriter in Axis syndicate since 2014. Previously She worked as P&I underwriter in West of England P&I club Hong Kong/London and spent more than 8 years in PICC Beijing Head office as the Deputy Manager in P&I division Marine department since 2005. She has extensive experience in underwriting in both Chinese insurance market and London Lloyd’s market.

 

Selina majored in Insurance and hold Bachelor and Master degree in Economics from Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) (1998-2005)

Ningyu Zhang 张宁育

Ningyu Zhang currently works as an actuarial intern in Munich Reinsurance. Ningyu will graduate from Cass Business School and will obtain a MSc in Actuarial Science in 2021. She holds a BSc from Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) in Beijing. She has a solid actuarial foundation and successfully obtained the exemptions of CT1-CT8 of IFOA, thus won the first place in the UK Division of the “Munich Reinsurance Cup” Actuarial Competition.
