Breitling Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43 Boeing 747 Limited Edition
A fitting send-off for the original jumbo jet.
Perhaps no other watch is as true a pilot’s chronograph as the Breitling Navitimer, whose name is a portmanteau of “navigation” and “timer.” Originally conceived in 1952 for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), it is recognized for its bi-directional bezel with a circular slide rule that pilots can use to perform all in-flight calculations. Although it has undergone multiple interior updates and been offered in a variety of colorways over the decades, its winning form has remained largely unchanged. Nonetheless, we think the new Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43 Boeing 747 Limited Edition is one of the most attractive recent releases, striking a good balance between nostalgia and modernity.
This watch might give some people a headache, as we don't often see watch manufacturers release special editions commemorating commercial aircraft, but the Boeing 747 is no ordinary aircraft. Nicknamed the "Queen of the Skies," the aircraft changed the game when it first hit the runway in 1969, carrying twice as many passengers as the next largest jetliner, with two aisles and an upper deck lounge. What's more, it has a range of more than 5,000 nautical miles, making long-distance flights more accessible than ever. However, as more fuel-efficient commercial aircraft have provided more economically viable options over the years, Boeing has announced that the last 747, the 1,574th, will be delivered this year.

The Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43 Boeing 747 Limited Edition provides a fitting send-off for the groundbreaking aircraft that transformed commercial aviation. “What better way to commemorate a revolutionary jumbo jet than with a revolutionary pilot’s chronograph?” agreed Breitling CEO Georges Kern. “The Boeing 747 brought style to the skies just as the Navitimer brought the spirit of aviation to fashion watch lovers.”
Paying homage to the iconic aircraft, the new stainless steel Navitimer Boeing 747 is generously sized at 43mm and features retro touches such as the classic colors of the original Boeing 747 on a cream dial, black subdials and a red background dial. White slide rule with blue accents. The AOPA logo is prominently displayed at 12 o’clock in a vintage-style gold tone, complementing the integrated date window at 6 o’clock, paying homage to its heritage as a pilot’s chronograph. Look closely at the dial and you may also notice the name "Boeing 747" subtly integrated into the internal scale of the circular slide rule.
The back of the watch is engraved with more compliments to the aircraft, including “One of 747” and “The Original Jumbo Jet.” The open case back also showcases the exceptional Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, a COSC-certified self-winding chronograph movement with a column wheel, vertical clutch and 70-hour power reserve.
